Perfect for Thanksgiving Dessert!
Balsamic Apple Crisp (Serves 10-12)
Topping: ¾ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
¾ cups walnuts (finely chopped)
¾ cups Old Fashion Rolled Oats
½ cup light brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ t. ground cinnamon
½ t. salt
Filling: 3 lb. Golden Delicious Apples
(Peeled, cored, halved and cut into ½” wedges)
¼ cup granulated sugar
¼ t. ground cinnamon
½ CUP OLIVE MILL CINNAMON APPLE BALSAMIC VINEGAR
2 T. OLIVE MILL BUTTER OLIVE OIL
2 t. lemon juice
2 T. unsalted butter
Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. For topping combine flour, nuts, oats, sugars, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl. Stir in butter until mixture is thoroughly moistened and crumbly. Set aside while preparing filling. In a glass bowl, whisk together the butter oil, and ¼ cup cinnamon apple balsamic. Add apples and let steep for 30 minutes. Remove apples and toss in sugar/cinnamon. Bring remaining ¼ cup balsamic to a simmer over low heat about 5-7 minutes; then transfer to a bowl; stir in lemon juice, set aside. Heat butter in empty skillet over medium heat, then add apple mixture. Let simmer 12-14 minutes; add in reduced balsamic and cook an additional 2 minutes stirring constantly. Pour into an 8” square baking pan. Sprinkle topping evenly over fruit. Bake until apples are tender and topping is deep brown, 15-20 minutes. Cool until warm; about 15 minutes. Drizzle with additional balsamic and serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
